Diamonds take pride of place in major jewellery houses’ latest collections curated to celebrate momentous occasions, human creativity and the enduring splendour of one of nature’s most beloved gems.
At the centre of De Beers Jewellers’ newest offerings are four designs in time for Valentine’s Day – My First De Beers Aura heart-shaped diamond earrings, pendant and solitaire ring, and the Infinity diamond pendant.
“Playful yet elegant, the new styles hail the heart shape, a first in De Beers’ collections,” noted the company. “The romantic nature of the heart shape and infinity symbol make them a timeless gift for your loved one, or simply for yourself this Valentine’s Day.”
Each centre diamond is framed by a halo of micropavé diamonds, a pattern also known as De Beers’ Aura setting.
According to De Beers, the heart shape is considered one of the most romantic diamond cuts, with its popularity dating back to the 16th century, when Mary Queen of Scots gave Queen Elizabeth a heart-shaped diamond ring to commemorate their friendship. “A technically difficult cut to achieve, the heart shape radiates the same sparkle as the round brilliant, yet with a romantic twist,” the jeweller revealed.
Diamonds are also a significant component of BVLGARI’s latest high jewellery collection, Barocko.
Featuring an assortment of vibrant colours and fanciful shapes in grandiose designs, the collection relies on the enduring and classical appeal of diamonds to bring out the inherent beauty of the coloured gemstone pieces.
Diamonds are interspersed with rubies, sapphires, emeralds and other coloured gems to produce jewellery pieces that once again pay homage to Rome, which for over 130 years has inspired the company’s exceptional collections.
“The Eternal City’s monumental triumph of Baroque extravagance resonates in the exuberance of the new Barocko unique artifacts, embracing eccentricity and sophistication in a perfect balance of flamboyancy and timeless refinement,” BVLGARI said.
