The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has introduced Diamond Aid, a campaign aimed at raising funds to help pandemic-battered India in containing the Covid-19 crisis.
In an emergency session over Zoom on April 28, the WFDB Executive Committee unanimously decided to mobilise the international diamond and jewellery industry to come to India’s aid by donating much-needed resources.
Funds generated through the campaign, organised in collaboration with the Bharat Diamond Bourse, will be used to purchase essential medication and equipment that are desperately needed by hospitals in Surat and Mumbai.
WFDB President Yoram Dvash commented, “The international diamond and jewellery industry is a close-knit community, actually a family, made up of members from around the globe, many of whom live or originate in India. As members of this family, we cannot stand by without helping. We call upon the generosity of our industry to help the people of India during this devastating time.”
