China-born fine jewellery designer Diana Zhang is out to captivate high jewellery collectors with her latest creation: A bracelet adorned with 100 fine Burmese rubies resembling a sparkling lotus in daylight.
Zhang spent three years to finish the piece, from conceptualisation to the selection of gemstones and production. The piece, Red Lotus Under the Sun, was launched after the success of the designer’s Orchid King collection in 2016.
Inspired by a famous poem during the Song Dynasty, the ruby and diamond bracelet represents charisma and strength amid adversity. It also showcases Zhang’s notable attention to details and craftsmanship.
The central petals of the piece is paved with 100 of the finest oval-cute, no-heat Burmese rubies, bearing the coveted Pigeon’s Blood colour. The surrounding peals are paved with 3,805 smaller rubies.
Further adorning the bracelet are seven cushion and oval-cut diamonds of D to F colours and IF to VS1 clarity grades. A total of 2,569 smaller diamonds complete the piece, which is in 18-karat gold and titanium.
