Handmade fine jewellery pieces inspired by various Chinese elements took centre stage at the New York Fashion Week, held from September 7 to 13. The pieces were crafted by Chinese designer Wang Yang of Hera Moment.
Having developed a deep appreciation for Chinese culture while living abroad, Wang Yang established Hera Moment in China in 2010, a report on China Daily said. The brand focuses heavily on customised high-end jewellery inspired by Chinese culture.
A prominent Hera Moment collection was influenced by the so-called four gentlemen in Chinese culture – plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum – which each represent the respective virtues of faithfulness, elegance, steadfastness and courage.
Jewellery pieces from Hera Moment were first shown in New York Fashion Week last year, where they gained popularity and attracted interest from the overseas and local markets, the report said.
